With Christmas right around the corner Dr. Nooshi Akavan of Akavan Orthodontics in Tarzana, CA reminds that you keep in mind your friend’s and family’s dental health. Oral hygiene tools make great stocking stuffers. Make maintaining good oral health fun with cupcake flavored dental floss, or get creative with different types of dental kits:
Dental floss makes a great stocking stuffer. Flossing has a number of benefits, i.e., preventing calculus (tartar) build up (which is plaque that forms around the gum line), and preventing heart disease, diabetes and respiratory problems. Adding flossing to one’s daily brushing schedule decreases the impact of gum disease and increases the total health of one’s mouth. Make flossing fun with the variety of different flavors of floss available.
Dental hygiene kits are a great stocking stuffer to create for someone. You can include Colgate Wisps, floss, travel size toothpaste and toothbrush, mouthwash, breath mints and/or sugar free gum. Dr. Akavan notes that for those with braces, you want to also include wax and floss threaders or orthodontic floss.
Tooth fairy kits are a wonderful way to keep up with your child’s tooth loss as they grow. Record your child’s name, age, tooth lost, the method that it was extracted and how much compensation the tooth fairy left the child.
Toothpaste is just as important as floss. There are several different types of toothpaste, i.e., anti-decay, anti-plaque and toothpaste designed to help with sensitive teeth. Toothpaste comes in a wide array of flavors as well. Any paste makes for a good stocking stuffer as long as it contains Fluoride.
