Nooshi Akavan, DDS, MS
Being an orthodontist is the best job in the world. I get to work with a great team, and every day we create beautiful smiles for the nicest people - our patients! We treat patients of all ages; from young kids to seniors, whom we get to know well over their course of treatment. Its a blessing to give my patients a smile they are proud of and its truly amazing what this can do for their self-confidence.
Education and Continuing Education
I attained both my Undergraduate Degree and my DDS Degree from the University of Washington. I then graduated with my MS in Craniofacial Biology and Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Southern California.
I am constantly taking courses on Invisalign, TADs, and other new technology in the field of orthodontics. This allows me to provide my patients with the latest orthodontic treatments. I also attend practice management seminars that help our practice run more efficiently, and that teach us an ever higher level of customer service! As a part of my continuing education, I worked hard to receive my Orthodontic Board Certification in February of 2010. Being American Board Certified is a very prestigious honor that I am proud to have achieved since only a select group of orthodontists have obtained this recognition.
Dr. Akavan has received many awards and honors and is a member of a number of dental organizations:
• American Board of Orthodontics
• American Association of Orthodontics
• Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics
• American Dental Association
• California Dental Association
• San Fernando Valley Dental Association
In the Practice
My patients have told me that their new smiles have given them a new sense of confidence, which has changed their lives for the better. Smiling is an important expression that conveys self-confidence. It is very rewarding to make people happy through my work. I feel that I make a difference every day.
My patients care about their well-being and are smart enough to know that their teeth play an important role. They appreciate the improvement in their dental health and are very thankful and loyal.
We have the most amazing staff. They are outgoing, friendly and dedicated to our patients. Patients feel truly cared for and appreciated through our warmth and dedication to a high level of service.
Outside the Office
I am originally from Seattle, Washington, and have lived in this area for more than 25 years. I have a daughter, Niki, who is 19 years old, and a son, Sean, who is 17. We also have a dog and two cats at home! In my spare time I love doing yoga, going to the gym and hanging out with my family and friends.
I am also active in our community, and have been a volunteer for Food on Foot for the past couple years. Food on Foot is an organization that helps transition the homeless in Hollywood to functioning members of society by helping them get jobs through an incentive program.
Our Tarzana Orthodontic office caters to patients in the San Fernando Valley, Encino, Woodland Hills, and Reseda neighborhoods.
