Every smile starts with an initial consultation!
Your complimentary new patient consultation will give you the opportunity to meet our team as well as learn more about orthodontics and find out which treatment options will best meet your needs. During your initial consultation, we will:
Determine if orthodontic treatment is necessary
Determine the best time to initiate treatment and the length of time of treatment
Discuss all financial information, insurance options, and payment plans
If Dr. Akavan feels that orthodontic treatment is needed at this time, an appointment for orthodontic diagnostic records may be arranged. These diagnostic records enable Dr. Akavan to make a definitive diagnosis. Within one week of reviewing the orthodontic records, we will call you to schedule an appointment to begin treatment.
The appointment when you get first get your new orthodontic appliances (braces, expanders, Invisalign, etc.) usually takes 1 to 2 hours. You’ll then see us at regular intervals 4 to 6 weeks apart for an adjustment, which takes 30 to 40 minutes. Our practice will work with you to make sure your appointments are as convenient as possible. When scheduling appointments, please let us know what days and times work best for you.
We understand that “life happens!” If you’re running late or need to reschedule, please let us know and we will do everything we can do to accomodate you. We’re looking forward to working with you.

Visiting the dentist during orthodontic treatment
It is very important that you continue to visit your family dentist once every six months, even during your orthodontic treatment, for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups. If extra dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure you are receiving the best care possible.
